Spinifex Community Center - Boston
The Spinifex Community Center is a party wall building located between two historic brewery buildings on Station Street in Boston. The community center is meant for people coming from Tjuntjuntjara to study in Boston, and the two adjacent buildings are converted to a cafeteria and living space towards the North and an administration building towards the South. To convey the feeling of moving between small, tight structures and the vast Victorian Desert, I settled on a concept of compression and expansion using a system of parallel bearing walls.
